Shamika Hall Ph.D.

Dr. Shamika HallMy name is Dr. Shamika Hall, I’m a licensed psychologist in the state of Michigan. I enjoy assisting individuals in their journey of personal growth towards the person they desire to become. One of the things that I realized about people is that we all want to feel an unconditional acceptance. In understanding this fact, I am warm and compassionate, and I believe it helps my clients feel comfortable to communicate with me. Change can be difficult, but with some support we can walk through your journey together. I have worked with a wide range of clients from young adults to seniors in a variety of settings from university counseling centers, private practice, and nursing home facilities.

My goals include supporting my clients to progress to whom they want to be and/or rebuild themselves back to a desired behavior or way of life. This may include encouraging someone to take a risk in certain areas of their life that they’ve been afraid to pursue. These goals can be reached by fostering a safe and supportive environment where the client feels comfortable enough to express themselves without fear of be judged, ridiculed, or discouraged.

My style varies depending on the clients because people’s behaviors and mindset continues to evolve. This means that one approach may not address or be appropriate for everyone. Therefore, I utilize a combination of three theoretical frameworks when working with clients. The theoretical frameworks that I use include Interpersonal Process, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioral. I have learned that the blending of the these approaches can create a more satisfying and fulfilling outcome.
